2013 Printz Award Winner & Honor Books
Best YA Book of the Year
The Michael L. Printz Award is an award for a book that exemplifies literary excellence in young adult literature. Each year eight librarians are elected from around the country to participate on the Printz Committee. It is their charge to read through every American book that was published within the previous year and debate which will be labeled the award winning title. This year's winner is In Darkness by Nick Lake.
  • "This bold weaving of gritty contemporary drama, revolutionary history and magical realism tells a one-of-a-kind story as fiercely intelligent as it is heartbreakingly honest,” said Printz Award Committee Chair Sharon Grover.
2013 Honor Books:
Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz
Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein
